Imagine not being able to read a text message or perform your daily work because of uncorrected vision problems. For thousands of Nigerians in underserved communities, this is a daily reality.

The Burden of Uncorrected Vision Problems

According to the World Health Organization, at least 2.2 billion people globally have a vision impairment. In Nigeria, cataract remains the leading cause of blindness, followed by glaucoma and uncorrected refractive errors.

What Our Eye Health Program Offers

  • Visual Acuity Assessment — testing each eye's ability to see clearly
  • Refraction Services — determining the correct lens prescription
  • Free Reading Glasses — distributing appropriate glasses to eligible beneficiaries
  • Referrals — identifying individuals who require specialized care
  • Eye Health Education — teaching communities about eye hygiene and nutrition

Stories from the Field

During one of our outreach programs, we met an elderly tailor who had given up his craft because he could no longer see well enough to thread a needle. After a vision assessment and fitting with reading glasses, he broke into tears of joy — he could see clearly again for the first time in years.

How You Can Help

Our eye health program is expanding, but we need resources to reach more communities. You can support this initiative by donating to fund reading glasses, sponsoring a community eye health outreach, or volunteering your time and skills.
